IHS TransPort Data Solutions Announces Access to Largest Parts Database on the Internet
AV-DATA Aviation Information Product Now Includes Free Parts Data with Subscription
DENVER, July 7, 1999- Aviation information publisher IHS TransPort Data Solutions, an IHS Group company, announced today it is providing customers with free access to the largest parts database available on the Internet. The parts database, called the Universal Parts Center (UPC), allows AV-DATA (www.ihs.com/aviation) customers to easily locate aviation parts information from the world's largest database of commercial and government-stocked parts simply by keying in a part number, keyword or company name.
A database of more than 41 million parts representing a variety of industries worldwide, UPC is maintained by IHS Engineering, an IHS Group company which is the world's largest publisher of engineering and technical information. The database is expected to grow to 100 million parts by the end of the year.
"We have added the parts database to AV-DATA in response to the customers' need for this vital aviation information," said Tony Martinez, general manager of IHS TransPort Data Solutions. "By including the IHS parts database with a subscription to AV-DATA, our customers now have an excellent resource for securing parts information from thousands of manufacturers."
Users can also view historical data for parts and even conduct searches with only partial part numbers. Part number search results are automatically cross-referenced to government information in the U.S. Federal Supply Catalog, Canadian Federal Supply Catalog and related databases. Users can also instantly reference manufacturers' part numbers to National Stock Numbers.
As a comprehensive source of over 200,000 pages of vital aviation regulations, advisory guidelines and related documents, AV-DATA is a global information solution used to access airworthiness, safety, and maintenance information for complying with the regulations of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Joint Aviation Authority (JAA).
In addition to international content from the JAA, ICAO and IATA, AV-DATA includes complete and current U.S. Federal Aviation Regulations, airworthiness directives, notices of proposed rulemakings, advisory circulars, type certificate data sheets, technical standard orders, service difficulty reports, Flight Safety Foundation publications, and over 80 FAA Orders and manuals, all searchable and linked to referenced documents. The AV-DATA web site (www.ihs.com/aviation) also provides daily delivery of new and updated airworthiness directives and aviation regulations.
