"E Star" Award for Exports

Department of Commerce Recognizes IHS Group's Contribution to US Exports

The US Department of Commerce has awarded the prestigious President's "E Star" Award for Export Expansion to Information Handling Services Group Inc., a leading international information database publishing group, based in Colorado.

The "E" Award program was established by Presidential Executive Order in 1961 to recognize firms that contribute significantly to the expansion of US exports. A second award, the "E Star" Award for Export Expansion, was authorized by the Secretary of Commerce in 1969 to honor previous "E" Award recipients for continued export growth. IHS Group earned its original "E" Award in 1979 and is only the 7th Colorado company ever to be awarded an E Star Award.

Marjory Searing, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Commerce, presented the E Star award to Christopher Meyer, President, COO, and CFO of IHS Group. Mr. Meyer accepted the honor on behalf of the company together with Robert Wing, President of IHS Group's International Division, in a special export awards ceremony held in Denver.

Chris Meyer is "delighted and honored that IHS Group is being recognized by the Department of Commerce for our continued success in expanding export sales." IHS Group's Colorado-based companies earn more than 25% of their total revenues from export sales, which have increased by more than 30% over the past four years.

Meyer credits IHS Group's export sales success to "our companies recognizing that individual export markets provide distinct and significant sales opportunities and challenges." He explained that an IHS Group-wide focus on export sales involves "developing database products that meet the specific information needs of international customers and customizing local sales and marketing programs in each international market."

IHS Group's International Division includes an expanded worldwide network of IHS Group-owned sales companies, field sales managers, and independent dealers, together serving customers in more than 100 countries. In highlighting "IHS Group's ongoing efforts to further improve local sales and customer support," Bob Wing also acknowledged the "excellent support provided by the local US Export Assistance Center in Denver."
