AV-DATA Aviation Database To Include International Standards, Regulations, and Advisory Documents

DENVER, -January 6, 1999- IHS TransPort Data Solutions, an IHS Group company, announced today it will republish the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) advisory documents and standards in its aviation database, AV-DATA. IHS Group signed an agreement to be the electronic republisher of the ICAO documents, positioning AV-DATA as the primary resource for international aviation regulations and guidelines.

In addition to ICAO (www.icao.org) documents, AV-DATA's (www.ihs.com/aviation) international content includes the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) dangerous goods regulations, which are used to ensure the safe shipping of hazardous materials by air, and the Joint Aviation Requirements (JAR's), which are the European equivalent of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR's) - the U.S. laws governing the aviation industry.

"With the international content available in AV-DATA, companies that operate globally will no longer need to reference several sources to find the aviation information they need," said Tony Martinez, general manager of IHS TransPort Data Solutions.

ICAO establishes international standards and recommends operating practices and procedures covering the technical fields of aviation used to develop a code of international air law for over 180 countries. "We can now better serve our customers outside of the U.S. and Europe who use ICAO information to develop their own air safety rules and procedures," Martinez said.
