Safety On Line and Richard Aarons Recognized with the 1999 Flight Safety Foundation Cecil A. Brownlow Publication Award for Furthering Aviation Safety through Journalism

Award Sponsored by IHS Aviation Information to be Presented at International Conference

DENVER -November 10, 1999 - US Airways' Safety On Line magazine and Richard Aarons, Editor-at-Large for Business & Commercial Aviation magazine, will receive the prestigious 1999 Flight Safety Foundation Cecil A. Brownlow Publication Award. The two awards will be presented on Nov. 10 at the joint meeting of the Flight Safety Foundation 52nd annual International Air Safety Seminar, International Federation of Airworthiness 29th annual International Conference and the International Air Transport Association in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The award recognizes significant contributions to aviation safety or aviation-safety awareness through journalism. Safety On Line has been an integral part of US Airways' Corporate Safety Department, promoting the importance of a strong safety culture to crewmembers and continually building the confidence of employees and passengers through the airline's safety program. Accepting the award on behalf of Safety On Line is Capt. George Snyder Jr., vice president of Safety and Regulatory Compliance for US Airways.

Aarons writes the Cause & Circumstance column in Business & Commercial Aviation, demonstrating excellence in communicating practical lessons from aircraft accident/incident investigations. Aarons, who has spent over three decades writing for the aviation industry, conducts extensive research of investigations to develop safety recommendations that add value to the findings of official reports.
