IHS TransPort Data Solutions Launches AV-DATA Database On The Internet
The Web's Only Comprehensive Source for Critical Aviation Regulations and Related Data
Englewood, Colorado. IHS TransPort Data Solutions, a division of Information Handling Services Group Inc., announced the Internet release of its aviation safety regulations product, AV-DATA. AV-DATA, also available on CD-ROM, is the only comprehensive source of over 200,000 pages of vital aviation regulations and related information available on the Internet.
In 1997, a total of 37 fatal accidents occurred among commercial aircraft. While accidents can be the result of noncompliance with safety regulations, adhering to mandatory FAA regulations means managing vast amounts of information and keeping up with frequent revisions on a timely basis. "A lot of aviation data is available on the Internet, but it is spread across hundreds of different web sites. With AV-DATA on the Internet, you have a comprehensive source of FAA and related aviation information that is cross-referenced and searchable all at one convenient site," stated Tony Martinez, general manager of IHS TransPort Data Solutions. As an added service, the AV-DATA web site (www.ihs.com/aviation) also provides crucial updates of airworthiness directives and Federal Register entries on a daily basis.
AV-DATA provides maintenance, repair, and overhaul information necessary for successful FAA compliance. AV-DATA is designed for engineering, maintenance, and operations personnel at major, regional and commuter airlines as well as airframe and powerplant design and inspection engineers at original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), FAA Certified Repair Stations, and Fixed Base Operators. "Any aviation professional can easily access the AV-DATA Internet database, the only requirements are an Internet connection and a subscriber password," Martinez said.
AV-DATA includes complete and current Federal Aviation Regulations, airworthiness directives, notices of proposed rulemakings, advisory circulars, type certificate data sheets, technical standard orders, service difficulty reports, manuals, handbooks and over 75 FAA Orders.
